If you’re looking for a festival to attend, there’s probably one to your liking happening in Memphis this weekend.

Broadway theater has returned to the Orpheum, starting with “Come From Away,” a musical production about airplane passengers diverted to a small town in Newfoundland following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. 

“Even though Memphis may seem like a smaller city or less important in the world of art, I think that the project is one of the most significant opportunities for me,” the artist said. 

When Chris Porter started Creative Punch Marketing Group, he said he had three goals: Do great work, make an impact and work with friends.

The pair worked together to develop a six-panel mural in support of reopening the coliseum.

Mempho Music Festival’s return came at a new location, on the grounds of the Radians Amphitheater at the Memphis Botanic Garden.

Baking is underway for the 62nd Memphis Greek Festival, coming Oct. 8 and Oct. 9. It’s a bit smaller, but ‘still a party.’

From jam bands to blues upstarts to singer-songwriters both rootsy and rockin’, the return of the Mempho Music Festival showcases a cross-section of contemporary Southern sounds. 

The Satellite Screenings take place across the country during the festival’s closing weekend Friday, Jan. 28 through Sunday, Jan. 30.

Barbecue fest was actually held at Liberty Park in 2011 after flooding on the Mississippi River necessitated it be moved. 

The record label executive bought a reported share of $750,000.

BPACC begins its 23rd season on Saturday, Oct. 2, running through May 7, 2022.

“IAM was kind of birthed there,” vice president Jeni Harris said. “So we’re excited that it’s kind of full circle back here.”

The former Memphian “had no qualms” about the project. “I grew up in Tennessee. Tina (Turner) grew up in Tennessee. I know that place. I know the culture.” Hall is up for two Tony Awards at the ceremony Sunday, Sept. 26.

After a one-year hiatus, the festival hosted by Museum of Science and History, has more than 150 artisan vendors, plus crafts demonstrations and a slew of children’s activities.
