The Second Line brings in 2019 with food, hair cuts and hope for ‘neighbors’

Rufus Britton got to start the new year with a good meal and a fresh haircut thanks to a coalition of volunteers who converged at chef Kelly English’s The Second Line restaurant on Jan. 1, 2019, to provide services, supplies and a warm meal to several hundred needy Memphians. Carlos Morgan was grateful to open his bag of cold weather items at The Second Line’s New Year’s Day breakfast, but the first item he saw was a pastel fleece pullover.
