Le Bon Appetit @home launches online cooking classes

Le Bon Appetit, the party, will return June 11, 2022, four years after the last one in 2018. But you know why the biennial event wasn’t held in 2020 and why organizers are waiting.
Still, they’ve got a little something to tide us over. Everyone loves a cooking class and these are clearly more than just a cooking class. Sign up and you can get a lesson from folks like John Currence, Claire Robinson and Edward Lee, as well as some local favorites.
Registration opened today for the classes, which start Feb. 22 with chef Kelly English. Each Zoom class is $40 and the money all goes to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. (They’re working up a package deal in case you want all of them, but that’s not ready just yet.)
Here’s the line-up, in date order, of participating chefs:
- Feb. 22: Kelly English, Memphis, of Restaurant Iris, The Second Line, Magnolia House, Fino’s
- Feb. 28: Nuha Abuduhair, Memphis, of 17 Berkshire
- March 10: Tiffany Derry, Dallas, of Roots Southern Table, Roots Chicken Shak
- March 15: Jimmy Gentry, Memphis, of Paradox Catering
- March 24: Ryan Lachaine, Houston, of Riel Restaurant
- April 7: Michael Gulotta, New Orleans, of Maypop, Mopho, Rum and the Lash
- April 11: Kat Gordon, Memphis, of Muddy’s Bake Shop
- April 14: John Currence, Oxford, of City Grocery Restaurant Group
- April 19: Claire Robinson, Memphis and New York, of Food Network’s “5 Ingredient Fix” and “Real Time”
- April 26: Edward Lee, Louisville, of 610 Magnolia, Whiskey Dry, Succotash
- May 3: Eli Townsend, Memphis, of Sage Memphis
Chefs will prepare a signature dish and you can follow along in your own kitchen.
The Zoom class will be recorded and provided to all participants following the class. If you’re unable to attend the class live but want to follow along at a later date, buy a ticket and you’ll get a link after the class.
