Since its first year, the Pink Palace Crafts Fair has developed into the largest juried arts and crafts fair in the Mid-South.

Shannon Weston said her son’s food allergy spurred the family to open a “clean food” restaurant in Colorado. When her son enrolled in Rhodes College, Vibe Foods came to Memphis, too.

The development will be called Mid-City Memphis, referring to the site’s location at the “geographic and population center” of the city, according to the letter of intent filed. 

“Perch is like my own little personal Cheers,” said restaurant owner and longtime caterer Ragan Oglesby-Phillips.

Community members came out to watch the spectacle before the Southern Heritage Classic, at which Tennessee State University will play the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

After seven years successfully running a spa in Germantown, Aja Freeman, 27, has expanded by opening a second Aja’s Spa location in Memphis’ University District.

A popular Memphis coffee shop is opening its second location — and it will give fans of Shelby Farms a way to order from anywhere in the park. 

The Lisieux Community’s drop-in center, which offers hot showers, warm meals, clean clothes and a safe place for rest for a while, is at risk of closing its doors after a series of costly repairs.

Owner Rick Spell, who opened the location in October 2019, has long planned to renovate the site, but the pandemic halted those plans.

“It’s gotten to be such a big deal where we’re going to put it that we’ve decided to put it somewhere else,” said Joe Lowery, market general manager for owner Northstar Memorial Group.

The new location at 734 Mt. Moriah Road is across from Gus’s Fried Chicken and along the same stretch as The Urban Gardener, Gibson’s Donuts and Garibaldi’s Pizza. 

At Red Koi’s upcoming Highland Street location, there will be a few tables for diners but the main focus will be as a take-out location. 

Since the neighboring Coming Attractions clothing store space became available, the restaurant is expanding with an area dedicated to carry-out orders.

In Tennessee, the Peach Cobbler Factory has 17 new locations planned, which will bring the number of venues in the state to 20. 

The “in-the-clouds thinker” and Memphis designer has audience of millions on Facebook and Instagram with his DIY decorating videos.

Amro Music first opened shop in Memphis in 1921, surviving the Great Depression a decade later by trading milk and eggs for piano lessons. Today it’s the largest piano, band and orchestra dealer in the Mid-South.

As a 21-year-old housekeeper at Gould’s, Eunice Boddie got up the courage to ask her boss in 1955 if she could be a hair stylist instead. Today she’s celebrating her 68th consecutive year of working with the company.
