Memphis baseball will have a chance to start a season with four straight series wins for the first time since 1994 when the Tigers play the final series game against SLU on Sunday. 

The path coach Penny Hardaway and his Tigers took to get to this point is one that featured plenty of twists and turns and ups and downs along the way and began nearly a year ago.

The day before the Tigers started their three-game home series against Southeastern Louisiana, baseball coach Matt Riser reflected on where his nickname originated. It dates back to his time at SLU before arriving at Memphis.
