C-Town Meat and Seafood will close its doors at the end of the month, the locally-owned business announced in a social media post earlier this week.

The business, formerly Thomas Meat and Seafood, is located in the City Center Shopping Center north of Poplar Avenue and east of Old Byhalia Road.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we announce we are closing C-Town Meat and Seafood effective 30 April 2023,” the post stated. “Thanks to our staff and loyal customers these past two years for all of your support while we rebuilt the market from the ground up. We could not have done it without you. We appreciate you all. Thank you again.”

C-Town Meat and Seafood, reached on Facebook, declined to comment further on their decision.

Fans of the local meat shop were quick to comment about their disappointment about the decision. The business said to watch for deals and sales in the next couple of weeks. The post was accompanied by a picture that said the closure was due to “circumstances beyond (their) control.”

The Shopping Center Group is the landlord representative for the City Center Shopping Center.

“They were an awesome tenant in the shopping center,” said Robert Sloan, a partner with TSCG. “We’ve loved having them in the center.”

He said TSCG would enjoy keeping them in the center if it made financial sense for both parties. The space is about 4,500 square feet, according to Sloan.
