Suburban school districts here finished at the top of Tennessee’s ACT scores, while Shelby County Schools came in near the bottom but is seeing improvement among its economically disadvantaged students and has four high schools above the state average of 20.2, its best score ever.

Germantown opened the bid process on its new outdoor venue – The Grove – earlier this week and the mandatory pre-bid meeting for those interested is later today.

Shane Horn begins his duties as Lakeland city manager next Monday, Oct. 1, earning $110,000 annually to run the suburb’s day-to-day operations.
