Bartlett imposes term limits

Bartlett city elected positions from alderman to mayor now have terms limits for the first time in the city’s history after the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved charter changes this week.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28, the board approved a change to the suburb’s charter by a 6-1 vote, implementing a limit of three four-year terms for those elected to the board offices. Animal control ordinances were also removed from the charter by a unanimous vote on Tuesday.
With the change, someone can serve three four-year terms as an alderperson as well as three four-year terms as mayor. The limits are retroactive, meaning any previous elected terms count towards the three.
