Collierville Schools “couldn’t find God” as its superintendent, but it did find the district’s former chief of staff, Russell Dyer, as its next leader.

After withdrawing from the Collierville superintendent race in 2019, the time seems right for Russell Dyer to run the town’s school system.

Collierville has appointed Russell Dyer as its next superintendent. Dyer is the current leader of Cleveland City Schools, but has ties to the suburban district.

Collierville is one of 50 venues in the state to be part of the Tennessee Songwriter’s Showcase.

Superintendent Gary Lilly is leaving, so Collierville Schools carried out interviews for a new superintendent Friday.

Some design issues need to be resolved before the item goes before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in January.

“When complete, this will serve as a show piece for our community and the fire department,” Fire Chief John Selberg said.

Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton stopped in Collierville to address upcoming initiatives in the next legislative session.

One board member wants to ensure bonuses are in the budget next year. The board also took an opportunity to honor Superintendent Gary Lilly with a parting gift of $5,000.

Collierville Schools has expanded its pool beyond three applicants presented last week.

After a day of fretting Collierville Schools may not get holiday bonuses, the school board will consider the change on Tuesday.

The commission recommends approval of the proposed 6,110-square-foot restaurant on Poplar Avenue just west of Bray Station Road.

Collierville Schools elementary school rezoning has been in the works for months

Eric Otten’s charges stem from the shooting death of his wife at the Meridian Park Apartments on Sept. 9 and a second victim, who died from his injuries months after.

A first public meeting was held two weeks ago, where Superintendent Gary Lilly shared a presentation about the elementary school rezoning process. While questions were answered, some parents weren’t satisfied. 

The payment-in-lieu-of-taxes request comes as the company is reviewing a lease renewal for a minimum of five years on its 102,000-square-foot headquarters it rents from Boyle. 

Eric Otten, who is charged with killing his estranged wife, now has a second count of first-degree murder.

Byhalia Commons is south of Tenn. 385 on the west side of Byhalia Road and bordered by Collierville Road to the south. The condominiums are east of Town Square near Washington Street and Mount Pleasant Road.

The first town venue to take advantage of the new rules will allow patrons to purchase beer or wine while viewing a performance of “Elf: The Musical”.

Sewers, when properly maintained, are not given much attention. However, they help guide decisions for growth in Shelby County’s suburbs.

A fatal shooting and attempted murder at a Collierville apartment complex two months ago became a double homicide Friday.

According to a site plan, the Poplar Avenue location would have two drive-thru lanes with no access to the site from Poplar. If the new location is approved, the chain would close its current Collierville location.
