Suburban districts shared the number of students opting out following Gov. Bill Lee’s order. However, most students continue to mask.

The former Germantown Country Club has closed. It is now officially owned by Farmington-Kimbrough Development Group.

While Shelby County’s population only grew by 1%, the suburbs reflected much higher percentages of population growth across the board.

Five of the Shelby County suburban districts saw some of the top achievements in results for TCAP, the state-mandated testing.

A recently passed state law is raising questions about Germantown’s recent vaccination requirement. However, the city believes the employment policy is not prohibited by state law.

Germantown will mandate vaccines for city employees with termination a possibility if they don’t comply. 

Germantown’s Board of Education will add a high school student to its board this fall. He or she will be selected by the Houston High principal and provide student insight to the board.

Germantown aldermen approved more stringent guidelines in its solicitation ordinance, which requires a background check when obtaining a permit and other requirements.

The ordinance sets guidelines for peddlers, food trucks, ice-cream trucks and handbills, but most heavily addresses door-to-door solicitation. It passed two of three required readings in previous meetings.

Germantown schools provided details of its COVID safety precautions for the coming school year. 

Germantown Country Club’s sheer size and the number of lots in the proposed Glasgow residential development for the property makes the project unique, but the density is comparable to other recently approved proposals.

Germantown aldermen unanimously supported an outline plan for Glasgow, a residential plan for the former Germantown Country Club site.

The finalists’ works will be installed on sidewalks and trails throughout the city.

The Collierville location will reopen July 19. It closed in June after a fire in the store’s grocery section.

Spence Ray plans to include a letter of credit with his proposal for Glasgow, the planned development of the former site of the Germantown Country Club.

Germantown First Responders Scholarship Fund will continue to help those who serve the suburb, holding an extra concert this month to raise awareness of the effort.

Germantown aldermen approved an infill subdivision near Neshoba Road and Riverdale Road on Monday. Neshoba Farms is an 18-lot subdivision on 6.5 acres.

Crumbl Cookies’ East Memphis shop is about a month away from opening, but the business already has plans for a second location at Saddle Creek.

Germantown approved its $197.9 million budget. The board also established a new speed limit for minor streets in the suburb.
