Chairman Ryan Strain and board member Brian Curry are seeking reelection in November for their seats on Germantown’s Board of Education.

The two were first elected in 2020. They filed their paperwork with the Shelby County Election Commission in July, and both turned in their qualifying petitions for the Nov. 5 election. Although others pulled for their seats, those candidates —Andy Ellis and Vicki Gandee — eventually filed for Position 5.

Germantown school board race sees another contender

Ryan Strain

Strain, an attorney with Baker Donelson, serves in Position 1. He’s been board chairman the last two years and was the district’s legislative liaison during his first two years on the board.

Brian Curry

When Strain took the role of chairman, Curry took on the legislative advocacy position.

Curry is in Position 3 and works in global planning and engineering at FedEx. He is the father to two daughters — one in seventh grade at Houston Middle and his oldest is a junior at Houston High.
