Tekila Mexican Cuisine is opening in the former Carrabba’s at 5110 Poplar Ave. in East Memphis, its sixth location.

Tekila, doing business as GDL Poplar LLC, bought the 6,464-square-foot restaurant for $6.8 million, according to the Shelby County Assessor’s registrar.

People familiar with the restaurant said the concept could be an upscale steakhouse similar to the Tekila location at the Nineteenth Century Club building at 1433 Union Ave.
