Retiring Germantown Presbyterian’s choir director has ear for church music
After Sunday’s service, Jerold Teachey and his wife might take a few weeks off, but they will remain part of the congregation. He may still conduct the choir but only sparingly and when needed. (Patrick Lantrip/The Daily Memphian)
After more than three decades at Germantown Presbyterian Church, Jerold Teachey will conduct the choir one final time Sunday.
At age 84, Teachey is retiring after 60 years with experience beyond the church walls — not only in the region but across Tennessee.
“It’s very, very difficult for me to retire because I still love doing what I do,” he said.
