Collierville’s former Gus’s will be demolished

The former Collierville location of Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken will be demolished, a decision the Historic District Commission didn’t allow nearly six years ago.

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen must approve plans for a new project on the site before the historic building comes down. The decision allowing demolition came Thursday afternoon.

In 2019, Gus’s owner, Wendy McCrory, sought permission to demolish the building on South Center Street and build a new Gus’s, but her request was denied.
