Construction on the new $50 million to $70 million Buc-ee’s in Gallaway officially began on Wednesday, Nov. 13 as the company further enhances its presence along the Interstate 40 corridor.
Despite rainy weather, a special groundbreaking ceremony took place at the northwest corner of Exit 28 at the junction of Interstate 40 and TN 196, special enough that the business’ co-founder Arch “Beaver” Aplin was among the attendees.
“We’re under construction now and plan on finishing and opening in the summer of ‘26,” said Aplin, also the company’s co-owner. “So it’s going to be about a 16- to 18-month project.”
Aplin praised the cooperation of the City of Gallaway, Fayette County and the State of Tennessee, saying he had visited Gallaway several times to check out the site.
