Listen to Cynthia Daniels talk about Memphis Black Restaurant Week
Cynthia Daniels came to Memphis for a corporate job, but soon found that she was missing the socializing of her native Atlanta.
So she turned into an event coordinator and this week, her biggest success is underway. This is the seventh year for Memphis Black Restaurant Week and the effect it’s had on the participants cannot be overstated.

In the first year, Daniels hoped to bring about 100 extra guests in eight restaurants, but instead 3,500 people showed up not just from Memphis, but from Little Rock and other neighboring cities.
The revenue produced every year has been the boost that some of the small businesses have needed to stay open. It’s grown, and this year she has 28 restaurants across the city that are opening their doors to new customers.
Listen to Sound Bites to hear Daniels tell about how it started, about some of her other events, including the Soulful Food Truck Festival coming up March 13 at Tiger Lane.
