It seemed likely to be a subdued night, after the “return of Ja Morant” show. Then, almost suddenly, it became The Luke Kennard show. He set a franchise record for 3-pointers despite coming off the bench.
For a team many expected to slide, the month of March has belonged to Jaren Jackson Jr., who’s led the team at 23 points per game on 53% shooting, as the Grizzlies have reclaimed their spot at second in the conference. Memphis Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks leads the NBA in technical fouls. Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is close behind. They have a lot to say about each other.
“We’ve had conversations in the past trying to guide him and help him continue to evolve as a person and a player,” said Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins.
The Glendale PD investigated the incident and “was not able to determine that probable cause existed for the filing of any charges,” the department said.
Opinion: If the wheels perhaps haven’t come off this once-promising Grizzlies season, they’ve at least gone flat, lost a few bolts and are wobbling back down the road, maybe emitting flames.
