Reserve quarterback Arrington Maiden earned a place in Memphis Tigers football lore with his lone play in a win against SEC foe Arkansas.

The American Conference has produced six power conference victories this season, creating a clear path for the league champion to reach the College Football Playoff. Will the Tigers take advantage of the opportunity? 

Memphis (4-0) was in jeopardy of letting things get out of hand after Arkansas (2-2) took a 28-10 lead near the end of the first half. The Tigers clawed their way back thanks to big-time plays on both sides of the ball.

Sutton Smith’s 64-yard touchdown run and Chris Bracy’s forced fumble were two of the key plays Memphis made in the fourth quarter to edge Arkansas. And, Arrington Maiden’s run clinched the win.

The broadcast marks Memphis’ first appearance on ABC since Oct. 17, 2020, when the Tigers defeated UCF, 50-49.

After starting with a 3-0 record for the third straight season, Memphis will face one of its biggest tests of the year in a home game against Arkansas on Sept. 20.
