From Oct. 24 to Saturday, Nov. 7, the Shelby County Health Department reported an average of 225 new coronavirus cases and 2,840 test results a day with a 7.9% positivity rate.
Overall, the Health Department has reported 39,048 total coronavirus cases and 583 deaths, classifying 36,049 cases as inactive/recovered.
A little more than 16 hours later, incumbent Bartlett Alderwoman Paula Sedgwick has not decided whether to challenge last night’s results in an election she likely lost by 61 votes against challenger Kevin Quinn.
Challenger Kevin Quinn defeated incumbent Bartlett alderwoman Paula Sedgwick by a mere 61 votes in the suburb’s only contested alderman race, according to unofficial totals from the Shelby County Election Commission.

From Oct. 17 to Saturday, Oct. 31, the Shelby County Health Department reported an average of 268 new cases and 3,715 tests a day with a 7.2% positivity rate.
Overall, the Shelby County Health Department has reported 37,764 coronavirus cases and 573 deaths, classifying 34,273 cases as inactive/recovered. Active cases in Shelby County stand at 2,918, an increase from the 2,887 reported Friday.
The decision voters are weighing is whether they want a new voice on the Bartlett Board of Mayor and Aldermen or to keep the current group in place for at least another two years.
Mayors are concerned about rising cases, with at least one, Bartlett Mayor Keith McDonald, joining the call of local health officials for a statewide mask mandate.
This is the highest single-day total since the 664 new cases reported Aug. 1. The Health Department has reported at least 200 new COVID-19 cases seven days in a row.
Traditional campaigns are no longer the norm in 2020 as each candidate tries to find creative ways to get their message out to voters.
From Oct. 10 to Saturday, Oct. 24, the Shelby County Health Department recorded a daily average of 213 new coronavirus cases and 3,326 tests results with a 6.4% positivity rate. The Health Department has reported at least 200 new cases seven days in a row, with the highpoint of 414 new cases on Saturday.
If the initial plan is successful, FCS officials hope its full return to in-person learning mirrors Shelby County Schools, slated for January 2021.
“If you choose to trick or treat, keep it to a family unit and make sure there is social distancing,” Shelby County Health Department Director Alisa Haushalter said.
