Ellen Chamberlain is a global citizen who is happy to call Memphis her forever home. The Michigan native has worked in media for nearly 25 years as a radio broadcaster, journalist and ghostwriter. As The Daily Memphian’s food and restaurant writer, she gives readers inside perspectives of their favorite restaurants and the people behind them, suggestions for the best bites around town and the latest food news from in and around Shelby County.

Though a boutique hotel, The Memphian is a worthy dining destination for locals, whether one is dropping in for a quick bite or even enjoying a staycation. The hotel is modern yet cozy and home to two eateries: Complicated Pilgrim and Tiger and Peacock.

Tiger and Peacock is an ultra-chic rooftop restaurant and lounge that offers unique views of the city’s skyline from the hotel’s Overton Square location. The bar serves drinks of both the spirited and non-alcoholic variety, small bites, heartier portions and desserts, but what the rooftop hideaway is most known for is its zodiac-themed cocktails.
